Statement on Coronavirus and emc2020 - Updated 19 March 2020

Organising team continues to plan confidently for Europe's premier microscopy and imaging event

Updated Statement - 19 March 2020

The European Microscopy Congress 2020 committees and organisers continue to follow global developments regarding the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) and the potential implications to emc2020 in August.

We continue to plan confidently for emc2020, and at present, it is scheduled to go ahead as planned. We will continue to monitor the situation in the coming weeks and months but currently have no plans to postpone.

We understand that many authorities and institutions have cancelled trips and attendance to scientific meetings until further notice. We remain committed to doing everything we can to continue supporting all those who wish to attend the congress, and to assist with this we have decided to extend our deadline dates.

There will now be a further abstract extension deadline to 15 June 2020, giving all those who wish to present, an extended period of time to review the situation and still submit their abstract. The Early Bird Registration rates will also be extended until 27 July 2020.

We are offering Travel Bursaries to all young scientists, technicians and lab employees, to support their financial implications of attending the congress. More information on this can be found on our website. The deadline for these applications will be 15 June 2020.

Please check back on the website for regular updates over the coming weeks.

We thank you for your patience and continued support during these extremely difficult times, and hope that we can greet you to the beautiful city of Copenhagen this August!
